Banta Announces Grant to Preserve Corry’s Historic Municipal Building
June 12, 2026
ERIE – Rep. Jake Banta (R-Erie) announced today the City of Corry will be receiving a matching Keystone Historic Preservation planning grant from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC) to preserve and protect one of its most historic buildings.
Corry will be receiving $25,000, the maximum award for planning grants, to contract with an architectural firm and develop a master plan for the municipal building, which was built in 1919. This master plan will support the rehabilitation and preservation of the building, improving its use for public activities and contributing to downtown revitalization.
The grant requires a 50/50 cash match by the City of Corry.
“The municipal building is an integral part of the Corry Historic District, standing tall for over 100 years and serving as an essential part of the city,” said Banta. “This grant represents a dedication by the City of Corry and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to always preserve and celebrate our local history.”
Corry will be one of just 38 municipalities in the Commonwealth to receive a Keystone Historic Perseveration Grant. The PHMC awarded the grants, in part, to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary and to support projects that identify, preserve, promote and protect historic and archaeological resources in Pennsylvania.
These grants receive funding from the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund. This fund is supported annually from a portion of the state realty transfer tax revenue.
